Grease for tailshaft sliding joint?

Post by RoverP6B »

The Rover 3500 workshop manual of 1974 recommends a general purpose grease for the propshaft sliding joint, including Castrol LM, Shell Retinax A or Darina AX.

The propshaft is manufactured by Hardy Spicer.

Given that some of the recommended greases are no longer readily available, and with improvements in grease technology, would it be beneficial to use a modern alternative such as Penrite Molygrease EP 3% or Catrol LMM?

All advise gratefully received.

Ron.
