hydraulic tappets
are they easy to take part and check and clean ?
i seem to have a strange noise , but it gets better when it warms up
it almost sounds like "pinking" , no noise on tick over , but as soon as i accelerate it comes in ...like a clatter for won't of a better word
i was thinking it might be a slow to fill tappet ??
but any ideas welcome please ..
only since i have done the piston change to High comp now 10.5:1
i have checked compression to see if it was a head gasket ...that's ok
i have checked for combution gases ( blue liquid) ...that's ok
i have checked the plugs , all the same colour ...so thats ok

Not sure if the noise will be your lifters but yes they are easy to take apart. I used an allen bolt and a vice arrangement to compress the inner cup enough to allow me to flick out the spring clip. Once the pressure of the vice was released the inner parts just drop out.
If the lifter has no oil in it then I think that you can just push the inner cup down with a screw driver to release the clip.
