sorry not V8 but... does anyone know the bhp and torque put out by the 2.5 petrol engine in defenders etc, and at what rpm?

bhp and torque of 2.5 landy

I think you are in the order of 75 to 80 bhp at about 4200 rpm and 100 to 110 ft lb at about 3000 to 3200. Turner engineering used to do a kit with a new cylinder head and a 1 3/4 su that brought it up to about 110 bhp at 5k and 120 ft lbs made it very comparible with a low comp V8 ( which was the idea!

as std they seem to be in a much lower state of tune than the v8's.
was just wondering as my bro is doing pretty much what you said, he has put in a 2.5 engine in his series 2/3 and has put in cam,1 3/4 SU, ported head and few other bits, no idea what power it is but is bit better than it was before.
the head was ported free from some place he designed a website for so donno how good job they did but they opened it up a bit.

Turner engineering are the main people doing "tuning" parts for the 2.5, if the cam is part of the kit (not many people do cams for this engine) their heads are meant to be very good, I think you get into the heady realms of 130 bhp with the cam and if you put a tubular exhaust on it meant to pull from nothing with the turner cam!
