manifold -> downpipe olive
Hi
Need help please - I have a pretty old rover v8 in my land rover (it's the 8.25:1 compression ratio version, roughly P6-era) and need to replace the downpipes. We got the pipes and then realised that the olives I had bought weren't the right ones. I bought the circular ring-type, but the guy who did the engine said they should be more triangular-profiled instead. It's a single-outlet from the manifold, this isn't an EFI version.
Can anyone help with a part number and somewhere I can order it from please ?
Bit of history here with some suggested part numbers, none of which were applicable, if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any help. Local motor factors just look at me with a blank expression when I asked.

tricky..
That might be difficult as it's all bolted together. Naturally it's blowing like crazy due to the missing olives (and deafening to boot!)
I'll try and get it apart tonight and see how I get on, see if I can take some measurements etc.
In the meantime, here's hoping someone knows the exact part I'm talking about.

or...
if these things prove impossible to find, does anyone know where I might source a set of manifolds to replace them with, that take the "standard" landrover circular, ring-type olives ? Preferably not at brand-new prices thanks..
Thanks
Thanks
I hesitate to post this, as the drawing is probably as near to useless as it's possible to get:

Looking for a ring with a profile as on the right I guess ?
Below is the pipe as seperated from the manifold - no wonder it was leaking, previous owner looks to have tried simply to crush the thing into place:

Thanks for any help (and no laughing at my drawing, please
)
If these things don't exist any more, what about a set of more "normal" replacement manifolds perhaps ? Not expensive, hopefully....

My downpipes look exactly like that, and there is no olive. The idea is that the flare on the top of the pipe fits into a corresponding shape in the downpipe, and the retaining flange on the exhaust just holds the exhaust up into the manifold. It allows a bit of movement without any significant gas escapeage.
Maybe the surfaces are damaged or something preventing a seal.
Chris.

Sorry I don't - it's fitted to the vehicle. The profile is similar to my terrible drawing though and the photo of the pipe shows roughly where it has folder in - it's quite a shallow port and a little rounded, maybe not much bigger than a golf ball, perhaps not quite as round.
The guy who did the engine reckoned he thought the vauxhall vectra used a similar olive, so I might nip it round to my local Budget to see what they think...
