I run a TorqueMax cam from RPi, not sure if it's the same one. It's in a SWB Land Rover running a 4.6 motor with automatic transmission.

It pulls very well from the line, but I've got no figures to back it up.

sounds like a good choice for that vehicle, from what i gather it doesnt make the engine any 'worse' for high rpm driving or any better than standard.
i am rebuilding a 3.9 for my rover classic and this is the cam i have settled on, after getting the engine tornado chipped i am more than happy with the driveability at high rpm.

i do a fair bit of offroading and the v8's are fantastic for crawling around with loads of power, with a fair amount of reserve revs for when you cannot change gear and need to go a bit faster. its for that reason i love the v8 offroad the lag of a turbo diesel is a pain, and mine breaks everything when it comes on boost!
