I am rebuilding a SBC 2-bolt engine,its going into a boat.It is a Mercriuser engine with factory rollerlifter cam,1997 vintage with the mechanical fuel pump and plastic timing chain cover.
I have got hold of a B&M 142 supercharger kit off US ebay and intend to fit it to this engine,just wondering how much the standard rods will take and if I should up grade the 3 center caps with the Mildon kit to 4 bolt the crank will be OK.
I will be going for low comp forged pistons,new comp cams camshaft.
Any recommendations appreciated............Boosted!

It all depends on how you expect to rev the engine and how much boost you want to use.
If you're going to run more than 6,500 rpm regularly then aftermarket forged rods will be something less to worry about.
If in doubt uprate everything.

Why not get a 4 bolt block, must be plenty of them about? It makes sense to start with a solid foundation and the line boring's been done for you by GM.
As for rods, stock ones should be ok for stock rpm's but don't expect anything impressive in that engine. If you change pistons you'll need a full balance so you could change rods at the same time and chevy rods are cheap as chips.
