Precautions after engine compartment fire

Post by Wotland »

Hello,

I bought an complete engine removed from an last P38 Range Rover who surffered from an engine compartment fire.
Excepted the inlet manifold an plenum the engine is compete.
Before crash the engine run perfectly, no overheating problem or oil consumption.
I dismantled the engine and all seems ok inside excepted an lot of oil soot and residue of burned oil inside the V of the block.

There are special precautions to take before to rebuild the engine ?

Thank.

Depends how hot the fire was. If it was hot enough it could have deformed the engine so a good measure of all the decks might be a good idea. Course if it wasn't that hot then its probably fine.
