Post by ramon alban »

Does anybody have a link or a PDF for the Lucas/Rover V8 14CU or 14CUX ECU Circuit Diagrams please.

Thanks Eliot, some stuff I had not seen before but the circuit diagram of the innards of a 14CUX still eludes me.

Is it a conspiracy from the depths of the CIA to keep the ccts secret?

There's no way you'd ever get the schematics for any engine ECU - too much 'intellectual property' in there.

Hello Chris,

I've got the "less intellectual" 4CU Flapper schematics for U.S. TR8/SD1/RR on my website.

They give a great insight what is going on inside, particularly with the full load acceleration enrichment circuits and other sensor input circuits.

This leads to the possibility for us amateurs figuring out how they work without being held to ransom.

So I'm hoping that similar stuff has emerged for the 14CUX later unit.

Ramon.

I have a PDF of the 14CUX circuit board plus additional information.

Send me a PM with your e-mail and I will send it to you and you can upload it to your very helpful site.

Well I admit to being staggered by that. I guess it's a reverse engineered circuit though rather than the genuine article from Lucas. But no matter, the important stuff is there!

Slightly OT - the Pin1 input (Tach signal) input circuit shows that there's no need for that external resistor (at least, not from a functional point of view)

I dont think reverse engineering would have generated those PCB layout but its clearly not a Lucas source.

Probably a US based franchised repair outfit who had to have the circuits and they just got pirated out of the side door.

Functionally perhaps, but I think on balance the 6.8 k ohm resistor + the 10 k ohm resistor forming a total of say 17 k ohm in conjuction with the 560 pico farad capacitor would have an effect on cleaning up the signal.

Take away the 6.8 k and the result may be different.

Then there is the issue of an accidental short circuit on the pin 1 side of the resistor?

All speculation of course.

Still looking for 14CUX circuits.

Ramon,

Did that package not arrive? It is a very big file virtually a manual for the 14CUX

Just checked the file and it is actually 80 pages which may be why you haven't received it.

Kevin, yes, sorry, the package arrived, and it is the same as another one i found a few days ago, but similarly without the circuit diagram for the 14CUX ECU innards, so we are still looking.
