strange set-up

fitting my module dizzy today on my 3.5 rr and put it in according to the haynes with number 1 just past the power steering pump and zero start from motor,scratched my head for an hour and then had brain wave to turn dizzy 180 degrees and hey presto she run :? :x how the hell is this??? can someone explain please


91 classic vouge...2" lift...31-12.50/15 muds and running a 3.5

The reason you can do this is the good ole Haynes, they do not explain that the dissy can be put in the engine in a number of positions, this makes the bit No1 is at point A, at least irrelevent, the real way to check, is tale the LH rocker cover off, take out all the plugs and rotate the engine by hand so No1 inlet is just closing, stick a small screwdriver down No1 plug hole acd continue to rotate the engine untill you feel the screwdriver moving, when it stops moving its approx at its firing position, check where no1 is on the dissy and wire the plug leads to suit from there,

yea and i was amazed how the tdc pointer was out so much from atual tdc

That can be down to the wrong type of ballencer for the front cover.
