Hello v8man1,

All heads made after 1994 had 10 bolt retention, and essentially all heads for 3.9, 4.0, 4.2 and 4.6 after that date are identical.

Using 10 bolt heads on 14 bolt blocks was am I advised quite normal for Rover to do. The 10 bolt heads have smaller combustion chambers, so composite gaskets would be used.

The heads will have been retained with "one time use only" stretch bolts.
You will need to purchase a new set, which I believe will come with full fitting instructions, which must be adhered to without exception.

Justin,

You can use either the one time use only stretch bolts, or high tensile bolts which can be used as often as you choose.

I am not sure of the cost or the best place for you to purchase, as I don't live in the U.K.

Do check your other post regarding your headgasket and coolant loss.
I posted a response.

you may want to fit ARP studs, if you think you will need to take the heads off again.

They are about £100 though
Current V8 car TVR 400SE 240 BHP
Current Project TVR Tasmin Race, with 3.9 running at 230 BHP
Currently building a 4.6 300 BHP Xbolted Engine for it. Solid Lifters and Group A rockers, Stange 4 heads, Pocketed piston, fully balanced.
