engine re-fit
putting my motor back into my rr clasic at the weekend and need to know is it best to button the t/c to the flexi plate 1st and slide it into the box or put the motor into the converter and button the 4 bolts from underneath the car,the reason ime asking is i dont want to catch the gearbox seal by going in with it attached to engine

Do as Marki says.
This will allow you to make sure you have the TC pushed fully home so you can check the expansion gap between the lugs on the TC and the mating face on the flex plate.
I make sure I have a 3mm gap before I pull the TC out a bit to bolt it onto the flex plate.
This is the procedure for my setup and I'm pretty sure its the norm.

I dont think a couple of mm matters Chris.
If you look at the depth of the slots in the TC shaft for the oil pump you can see you have a bit of room to play with.
But I'm using a high (ish) stall speed TC with Nitrous.
