Oil temperature sensor

Post by Chorlton »

I have what I think is an Oil Temperature sensor thats been fitted to my sump.

The contacs have been broken off so Ive just spent an hour diggeng them out.

Now, there seems to be a dead short between both contacts. Is this right or wrong and is the sensor simply a dead duck?

Cheers

Is it an SD1 sump? I thought it was an oil level sensor rather than temp, but I could be wrong.

Chris.

Havent got a clue Chris, Im no expert on them but its been retrofitted by the look of it and is about 2 inches or so from the bottom of the sump.
When taken out, the probe is about 3 to 4 inches long

Seems a bit daft putting an oil level sensor that close to the bottom of the sump, unless its there to simply show you are out of oil?.

Then again if you waited untill the oil was that low I would assume the engine would have blown by then?
