Post by Danny-Boy »

Hi all,
Got a letter through from the dvla the other day saying that i require `documentry evidance` so that they can update their records. Has anyone else come accross this,if so what do i have to do to get my van registered as a 3500cc????
I got the engine from a chap that i work with, but the DVLA want some thing on `headed note paper` from the garage i purchsed the engine from?
All advice greatfuly recieved.

im probly gonna be in same boat as you soon,

if i was you i would right a letter explaining how you cannot provide headed paper as it did not come froma garage and all work was carried out by yourself,

i dont think everyone gets these letters so your just unlucky, and you probly just need to respond so that they can ok you, i dout they require much.

out of interest what van was it and what have you changed? was it a stright engine swap?

Hi Ralph,
The van is a 1981 VW T25 Panel van, which did have a 1600cc flat for air cooled unit in it,but was fooked and a mate at work offered me a V8 for 50notes, and the i got thinking and thought why not. All i have done is changed the engine and and had to put in a rad and heater matrix ect. The gear ratios on the standard box are quite long so it should chug along quite well.

Will let you know what happens, I went down to the local DVLA office in Bristol yesterday with a reciept of purchase from the chap i got the engine from, and a copy of the log book from the police van the the engine came from, the bloke that i spoke to seemed a bit confused as why they questioned it in the first place but they would send the `evidance` that i had back to DVLA in Swansea , and that i should recieve a log book with correct details in 2 weeks, we will see.
