Really cheesed off

Post by Chorlton »

Im cheesed off. Around 6 moths ago I bought what was advertised on Ebay as a 'Complete Remote Oil filter assembly Used for Rover V8' It was in an OK condition and I put it aside untill when I needed it.
Just fitted it this morning and the screw unit that goes through the Pipe holder and actual unit, doesnt screw in properly.
The screw in unit is a hollow threaded section that screws into the Oil filter assembly on the bottom of the RV8. I have a spare RV8 and its the same with that one.
The Oil filter actually fits on both the engine and the remote unit but the adapter unit seems fractionally bigger than the screw unit coming out of the engine and just wont tighten,

This unit was advertised specifically for the RV8 but as I bought it over 6 months ago I dont have the address of the person that sold it now.

Do RV8's have different oil filter threads?

Thanks Ian
Would it be cheaper replacing the Remote assembly or the Filter unit on the engine?

There are two RV8 oil filter thread sizes, one is the metric equivilent of the other (ie one of these cases where they differ by about 1 thread in 60 and the thread diamiters are the same to the third decimal point. get em mixed up though and it is enough for leaks and B*&^%%$£ed threads.

I think that the early engines are 13/16ths  and the later ones are 3/4

Sound like yours is for the early pre SD1 P6 engines - I have two of those as well.
