TPS conversion,

Post by Coops »

Hi Guys,
is there a conversion out there to use the newer style tps unit on the older style plenums?
on my TP plenum it uses the old style big round tps unit,
just looking ahead in case mine fails i know it can fit, i have a spare hotwire style tps unit here if it does,

do you mean difference between flapper and hotwire? I'm a bit confused, but I've got both, and no they aren't easily changeable - throttle shafts are different lengths and mounts for TPS are different - because I looked into doing that as well a while back before I got hold of the ACT plenum.

EDIT: just remembered you're running the twin plenum set up, does that have the old style TPS then? Hmmmm . . .

yes mate mines the old tp set up has a big round tps unit, i think i see somewhere a conversion for it, used an ally disc drilled for the plenum mount and for the 2 screw tps from a later unit, along with an ally adaptor that fitted between the tps and throttle shaft end,

yeah soemthing like that would work. I was looking at mounting the flapper TPS mount onto the hotwire plenum (because at the time I didn't have a hotwire TPS and they're bloody expensive!) - all it would take is some careful measurements and drilling, and a spacer possibly - although there's nothign wrong with swapping the throttle shafts over I guess.

I have a complete flapper system spare, flapper TPS and a brand new hotwire TPS still in its packaging that I bought before I got hold of the ACT set up. If you want anything for spares etc gimme a shout, you can have it for sweet F-A as they're no use to me for the moment (apart from the new TPS which I'd want a few quid for hehe).

Hello Tony, for Flapper SD1's - pages 7,8,9 on the PDF here:

May be OK for hotwire too depending upon shaft length, resistance, etc.
