Rover v8 weight

anyone know how much an average V8 weighs? basically a full engine? mines a 3.5 just with bare essentials (no PAS/ A/C etc).

thougt about putting it on the bath room scales but its probly more than 20st (127kg)

around about 320lbs

i just found ont he net on one page reconing they are 175kg, they said the origanal buick engine was 147 (320 ish).

guess they are pretty light for what they are, tho still fair lump.

the Buick weight will be close to a bare ish rover. The figures vary wildly depending on what is attached to them to be honest. Some will quote completely bare no inlet or anything and some will quote fully dressed. As a rough guide they are fairly similar to a 2L Ford pinto engine but you get a hell of a lot more for your weight. If you think its heavy google the specs for a 350 Chevy lol or worse a 351 Cleveland.

If you go to the V8 Church website and go to the section Choosing a V8 you will get the weights of a few different V8's

If you look down the left hand column under V8's General you will see Choosing a V8 when you roll over it it opens up some navigation with rover, chevy and ford v8 you select one of them and it gives you the sizes and weights
