20am air mass meters

Post by Seight-V8 »

hello all,

Might seam like a weird question but.

Does anyone know if the 20am air mass meter for the 4.6 gems efi is made from plastic or aluminium....as previous efi's

I only ask as i am looking for one....and there's some cheap refurb ones on ebay....but they look like all plastic...

Just wondering if it would be better to purchase a refurb or an older original unit.

cheers

scott richmond

Scott,

I think you are referring to the reproduction units on e-bay, personally I don't think I would take the chance. I think the originals are Ali.

You can get a 20AM from Alan Coote at Range Rover heaven for £50 he has one on e-bay at the moment or give him a call 01249 890511

Kevin.

I had a prob after a backfire on my disco using a 5am AFM. I took the chance and bought a one off ebay and wish i hadnt. If i run the car from cold on a morning it barks and farts on running on petrol. It runs poor until warm then you have to switch the car off then re-start and its ok but i still dont think its running right so as suggested i would buy a cheap one off ebay.
I do erratically, often with bits falling off.
