revs wont come down

hello my 1985 range rover is messing me about .engine revs to hight when its warmed up it has solex carbs and points dizzy .tryed turning tick over down but engine dies when you put it in gear 3 speed outo all so when you put any electics on ie lights /fan revs drop please help :cry:

check for air leaks

hello man dun that all i found was a split pipe from dizzy to carb replced that made no diferance thans

Have you sprayed round the inlet joints to the head an all that with wd40 or something? Sorry if you have already done this but its quite common for the gasket to leak here.

no i only sprayed around the carbs ill give that ago tomorow thanks

On the solex carbs the rubber diaphrams in the dashpots quite often rot and could be causing your problem.

The SU carbs should be a straight swap.
