Heater pipes .... any other options ?
Hi Guys, i managed to plonk my plenum on the engine today and was wondering where i could plumb the heater pipes into , i don't have any of the pipes that ive seen run under the manifold. I was wondering if it would be possible to run some 15mm stainless pipe rearward from the normal P6 type pump under the manifold and T into the bypass pipe to the side of the thermostat housing? any other ideas? couple of pics here .... john

So thats where it went !
And it's not easy to describe in text either !! from what i've seen and done it always flows out of the bottom of the rad, then into the bottom of the pump, or sideish on a rover, then theres the first heater take off on the top of this pipe for th heater, next inline on the pump is the return from the manifold, and of course theres the feed to the header or rad from the manifold, quite simple ..... so how come i can't suss out my heater ...whhhaaaaaa

On mine (Taraka manifold) I have taken the first take off from the pump, T into the wierd take-off on the front-left of the manifold (looking at the engine from the front) then run that to the back of the engine bay to the header tank (which would have been the heater).
When I ran my old SU manifold, the bottom of the header tank came out then split into two; one under the manifold using the standard Rover bypass and the other over the top to the first pump connection mentioned above.
That prob doesn't help having re-read that!
*EDIT*
Sorry just re-read your post, what you say about running the pipe rearward and T into the bypass is exactly what I have doen, except my bypass is in a different position, so yeah that should work.

i modified my 3.9efi manifold and fitted the pipes underneath to mine from a 3.5efi inlet if i remember correctly

Hi chaps,
The top (shorter pipe) is the one that goes to the back of the pump and the longer wiggly one goes to the bit on top of the return from the radiator (on a P5 pump anyway).

If I was going to hazard a guess I'd say the top pipe here is the feed to the rad as this would have the hot water from the block feeding it?

ahhh i remember doing this,
right, the top hose goes to the heater (hot water in), the bottom one is the return from the heater (water out) to the top of the water pump,
