Valve spring installed height

Post by mgbloke »

This might sound silly but where do I measure from?
The actual spring height, or to the top of the retainer.
Cam spec says 1.590 inches (M238).

Thanks

Mark

You measure the ACTUAL spring height. That is from under the retaining cap to the bottom of the cutout in the head.

There is almost no room between the spring and the recess in the head.
I was planning on assembly with just the small springs to give me some room to measure.
Not worth buying a special tool. But thanks anyway.
