I think a lot of the problems people had originally have now been overcome.....I also think I read somewhere that you can rebuild with Garrett internals.

In all honest. Turbos from reputable sources really arent that expensive these days.
IMO it just isnt worth buying from the unknown.
As an example. Here are some "Precision" turbos...
An SC-61 would probably work fine on an RV8, and its good for 600+ It should spool very quickly too.
$825....isnt exactly a fortune ( although obviously there is postage/duty etc )

Ultimate power goals, and being able to make some use of that power...
Plus I had never used a supercharger before, so wanted to try one.
IMO, using a turbocharger to make big power from a 2wd road car( the sort of power I wanted I mean ), on a manual gearbox, and normal tyres, is a complete waste of time.
If using very sticky tyres, and an auto box, then it might handle it a bit better.
But I aint old or incapable enough to warrant going auto
At a guess my old RV8 was making about 500bhp. But when boost starts picking up, power/torque does come in with a big rush, and its very hard to control this using your foot alone. 50% throttle may as well be same as 100% throttle.
My car at the minute is of course stupid on the road now too because of too much. But it would be even worse if it was turbocharged making the same power.
I was at the dyno recently, and despite a few problems, was making 850rwhp and 750rwtq on super unleaded. But peak torque wasnt until about 5000rpm.
If it was turbocharged, this would probably have been a lot sooner.
If going for turbos, and dont want to go for mad power. Get some sort of decent boost control, that might allow you to map boost vs rpm, or tps. This can smooth power delivery, and it make it very usable on the road at all times.
And DONT go for huge throttle's If anything, downsize and go small. This will give far better throttle resolution under foot, and if you keep sizing sensible, will not hurt overall power one bit.
A std single 78mm TB on a LS1, will easily make over 1000hp when boosted..
In general though, I would go turbo every time. Id still do it again on an RV8.

is there any links you regarding turbo charging mate?
im new to this so need to do some reading me thinks,
i have chance of two turbo's but not sure what they are until i see them and get the numbers off them,
then the next thing twin or single turbo's.
and do the manifolds have to be cast?
and how did you route yours on the granny? it looks like the drivers one my side will foul the servo on the exhaust outlet.

Manifolds dont have to be cast...but in general, cast is cheap and reliable.
For simpleness sake...if go for a single turbo. I think there is a fair bit of room in a capri ?
Go over to www.ls1tech.com and check the forced induction section for turbo builds
There is some nice stuff there.
Search for pics etc, there are various tubular manifold designs, as well as systems using factory cast manifolds and adaptors.
And www.ls1turbo.com.au systems using cast manifolds.
APS also do cast stuff ( I know its all LS1 stuff, but still worth a look )

i may have to turn the plenum round though and have the thottles on the drivers side,

making the manifolds won't be a problem, CSR and the guys at Caprisport have offered to help make the manifolds for the turbo, the two manifolds need to be linked also don't they?

Dont be fooled into thinking you must use tubular manifolds. You dont !!!
If you could find some cast manifolds, swap them side to side, reverse them, whatever....then its an easy start.
Yes both sides need linked.
At a guess, A T4 flanged 61mm turbo would be a good start. Maybe with a 0.83 or 0.96 turbine housing.
That would be enough turbo for easily over 500bhp, and spool well.
What looks like the main manifold for a single kit.
You can see the wastegate pipe at the tip, and the link pipe coming from below.
Kit that uses factory cast manifolds, and links them to a single turbo.
GenT single kit. Uses factory right hand side manifold, with a custom left side where the turbo mounts. Links under the rear of the sump.
Phamspeed kit...no longer in production.
Kit using factory manifolds from a truck, swapping sides to face forward.
