oil cooler

Post by Coops »

i must pull my finger out and fit me cooler.
i have the take off sandwich plate from a disco v8 similar as were fitted from the factory,
Do i,
a: get the mushroom cap and use a remote filter, (not keen on a remote filter idea).
b: fit a shorter filter to the plate e.g capri one and change it more often.
c: use the standard filter and fettle a bit more of the front of the capri away.

Id have no concerns about the smaller filter.

The one Im using on my LS1 really is tiny....
9.85 @ 144.75mph
202mph standing mile

The shorter type oil filters were original equipment for the Rover P6B.

So fitting the oil cooler sandwich plate between the oil pump front cover and a shorter filter would not be a problem.

For longevity, oil changes along with the filter should at the very most be every 3000 miles (5000km).

The Rover V8 in all its capacities is one engine that does not like extended oil change intervals.
