Bren,

What size engine and current spec? I have a Hurricane cam in my 3.5 with stage 1 heads Edelbrock Performer manifold and a decent set of exhaust manifolds which should be good for approx 200-210BHP

The hurricane is a good road cam and allows the engine to breathe well up to 5500+RPM with plenty of low down grunt.

Please be aware that you must use new lifters/tappets with a new camshaft or you will wreck the cam very quickly. The standard lifters are good to 5500+RPM and act as a rev limiter at approx 6000RPM.

I had this cam in my 3.5, i used crane high rev lifters. On the rolling road it had 203 bhp at 4800rpm and on the road it had no useful power above 5700 so i didnt rev it that high. Rev limiter was set at 6000, never really hit it. Was a good road cam.

I've used this cam in a few 3.9's to very good effect now. Std compression, std lifters, std airfilter box and SU carbs. Fitted with BAC needles, the engines have all pulled well from low down with pretty good lugging torque, then the power comes in at roughly 3-3500, pulling like a train to 5500.
One such engine I did was for an early G-WAC (Initial press-release fleet) discovery, the owner reports average economy of 17mpg with over 20mpg being easily achievable when cruising at 65mph, checked against back-to-back refuels.
I'm currently considering taking the LE1 cam out of my 4.7 and putting a Hurricane into that as well.
