Converting from carbs to EFi

Post by Rob »

Hey All... used to be a member, forgot my details... so I'm back.

Wanting to swap from carbs (twin SUs) to EFi (Range Rover) .
I have what I believe to be a full EFi set up.
I have from manifold up. (I think)

Owt else I need - I assume I can just bolt it on - 15 minutes - drive away and all is well, yeah ?

HELP!

I assume 100s have done it so give a biy a helping hand

Cheers
Rob

Sorry...

It's an SD1 RV8 (did I not even put that!? bloody stella)
The injection is the "flapper" system

The heads are slightly different - there's a small 'cutout' in the roof of the inlet port to clear the injector spray pattern on EFi heads. But people have put EFi on carb heads before with no noticeable effects.
You need to change the fuel pump too for a high pressure system with return pipe.
And the EFi system needs a feed from the -ve side of the coil which gets missed often!

But yes, not a difficult job. Of course you need to remember that a flapper system from an SD1 is at least 20 years old now, so it might not be in 100% brand new condition!!

Fairly easy to complete, converted one of my SD1's to EFi.

As long as you have all the bits, just plan the layout, wiring is simple, just 4 wires to make it work!

Any problems pipe up
