Hotwire/flapper common parts
Do the hotwire EFi systems have any parts in common with the older flapper ones? I was thinking mainly of the manifold, the base plate with the eight trumpets and the plenum cover. I'm about to fit a flapper system to an MGB GT V8 and have to have these parts milled down to clear the bonnet, I was hoping that in the future if I move to hotwire I could re-use the milled parts to save having to do it all again.
As far as I know the physical differences:
Injector fittings & fuel rail are different
Flapper has the stepper motor thing on the front; Hotwire has the idle vavlev on the rear of the plenum
Slightly different take-offs on plenum etc
TPS sensors are different & throttle shafts are different lengths (although can eb made to fit IIRC)
Out of interet, where did you get the machine work done and what did it cost? I have an MGB V8 with the ACT plenum, and although I have no issues hacking a hole in the bonnet (as the carbon does look yummy!) I'd rather not if its relatively easy and/or cheap. (I know how to do it in theory, jsut dont have the milling facilities)
thanks
