Best thing for blocking up Plenum holes with?!?

Post by chodjinn »

Yeah, daft question I know, but I have about five holes to block up on my plenum chamber, (including the vaccum for the dizzy, the two large pipe connections under the throttle and the brake servo connection - all not being used).

I was thinking of some metal epoxy stuff like araldite but can't remember the name of it. I'm also a bit worried about heat resistance - especially as the engine is turbo'd.

Any suggestions?

thanks

You're probably thinking about JB Weld.

As regards the Servo holes could you not fit a solid bolt? instead of the banjo type :?:

I've used the liquid metal as you've mentioned for mine.

Did you get that fuel filter? Any good?

You can ignore the 2 large pipes under the throttle, they deliver hot water under the plenum and don't go anywhere. I've removed the heater plate from mine so they're not on the plenum now. If you do remove the plate you'll need to plug the two inner holes as they're in the plenum post throttle.

Which i discovered whilst trying to work out why a newly built rv8 wouldn't tick over or run right.

sorry the plate thing has been removed, I meant the two pipes that go out at right angles pre-throttle plate - I think they are for the extra air stuff?

And yeah Gav, filter looks great! Just gotta get me a swirl pot and som high pressure fuel lines . . . and the rest of the bits for the engine!
