You seem to be getting somewhere.Goughie wrote:I would say it is still not running properley but at least i will be able to work on it, although, knowing my luck, it probably wont start from cold now
If you can keep it running when hot, by raising the idle speed, set the AFM mixture screw to 2.5 turns out from fully home and if the AFM is working properly that will not be far from correct. If it dies go back to your former setting.
If it still remains running you should now be able to check for rogue air leaks as instructed in my test program.

The reason I say this, is that an unmetered air leak can introduce an uncontrollable situation as far as the ECU is concerned, but by raising the idle speed you may have allowed the ECU to regain some control despite a possible air leak.
Go thro the program and see what happens.
Two other thoughts.
Does the EAV fully close when the engine is hot. and
I cant remember, Have you checked the throttle pot for electrical noise.
Regarding the latter, If it is totally knackered the noisy signal it generates can the ECU into thinking the engine wants to accelerate and pump in more fuel by double pulsing the injectors - even when idling - and that might explain why the plugs are being fouled.
