polish

No not the east European type but the car type. Has anybody got any recommendations on a really good polish?

While I am on the subject does anybody know what they put on new cars that makes them so shiny? They almost look wet even with some of the dodgy orange peal paint jobs.

At work the new cars just get regular polish, barely even that if you watch the polander valeters working-ish.

I can very very very highly, very highly, super dooper highly reccomend the meguiars pre polish and a wax called harly wax which I got from ebay.

When I got the porked I started by using the meguiars detailing clay (It's quite amazing the difference it makes) the the pre polish which preps the surface for polish. mequiars then say use there wax but I bought some harly wax from ebay and put that on with an applicator pad (from meguiars) and let it dry, about 5 mins and buffed it off with a micro fibre cloth.

It has that wet look you describe and even though that was a month ago the water still beads in the exact same way as the day I polished it.

A wash and shammy is enough to get is perfect again since.

If you have the patience to go the whole hog with it the result is quite something, long lasting, protective and very satisfying!!!

Cheers Gav I actually have a tin of meguiars mirror glaze that I use on moulds as a release agent, talk about hard work lol. It isn't listed anywhere on their car products so I better not use that on the car. Dont need the clay as its new paint but I will order some Harly wax unless anybody else wants to make a recommendation?

If you do get the paint cleaner too, it makes the difference, a sod to buff off but worth the effort and will make the most of the harly wax.
