Hello,
Does anyone have plans for the fuel tank vent on a Rover SD1 V8 with a carburetor ?
I'd be interested to know how it's constructed and which parts are included.
Thanks and have a nice weekend,
Pascal

Hello John,
Thanks again.
I don't know how the system was designed. Does a vent go from the tank into a filter and then to the engine? Or does the SD1 only vent to the atmosphere?
Regards,
Pascal

I'm not familiar with the UK/EU based cars, but I'd say the vent is to atmosphere for that model's age.

Re: Rover SD1 V8 Fuel Tank ventilation
Hello John,
Thank you. I also only have one hose on the car that goes from the tank to the outside, and I find that it smells very bad when the car is parked in the closed garage after driving. I don't have that problem with my other classic cars...
That's why I thought I could retrofit it somehow.
Best regards,
Pascal

Re: Rover SD1 V8 Fuel Tank ventilation
Pascal,
Apologies for the delay, I don't come here regularly enough.
It may be that the pipe has been rerouted from removing and refitting the tank or the filler neck and it is now venting to the wrong place.
I have been in a few SD1s that belonged to friends in the past and cannot remember any fuel smell in them.

Have a look at this guy's site, he has a LOT of interesting stuff. Not necessarily pertinent to your current issue, though.

Look on places like E-Bay for a manual, the Factory ones will be first prize, but even a Haynes or Autobooks one will help you in getting things done.
