Is it possible to get a 50mm high spin on oil filter on the V8 engine I am putting into an MGB, without having to resort to putting a remote oil filter kit on.?
Thanks

I have faint recollections of reading about a Renault 5 filter being used, but I am not going to say with certainty.
Cheers,

Ah looks as though it might fit. It's certainly 50mm high. The obvious disadvantage is that it would increase the head loss across the filter and reduce the catchment area by 50%. However I think I'll will give it a whirl, reduce the filter replacement time by 50% and use long life oil. it would be comforting to know somebody had actually done it.

I used a Sierra Cosy oil filter in my V8 kit car - which is shorter than the standard RV8 - but are not 50mm high!
75mm high I think - so more filter media if it fits?
Looks like some Renault 5's use M20 thread - so make sure you get the 3/4 unf for the V8.

BEst fit a remote filter head and the hugest filter you can find, I just found a 200mm long Mahle filter I'll be using on my Mocal relocation kit..

I was finding it difficult to get the sump capacity I wanted so I fitted a remote filter mount thing with 2 filters and gained an extra 1.5 L of oil capacity .
