So I’m currently having the machine shop prep a block for me.
Get a call today from them saying they would like me to drop off the cam and followers to them. Tried calling but they’re now closed. Why would they need these?
I’m quite a distance from them..

Re: 302 SBF
My take
They presumably are line boring and fitting new cam bearings, so will need the cam to ensure correct figment tolerances etc.
Lifters…. So many different ones so ensuring correct fit within their lifter bores
Easier to get it properly checked now than collect the machined block and have to return it because of a problem during final assembly
