Serpentine Engine?

Could someone expain what a 'Serpentine Engine' is please and how it would differ from a standard RV8

4.0 and 4.6 are the proper serpentine engine. Its name comes from the belt on the front which is the flat belt instead of the v belt on the older engines. There are loads of differences to the point that its really a completely different engine. The block, crank, con rods, pistons, front cover, oil pump and sump are all different. The heads are different too but they are one of the few parts that can me fitted without a fair bit work to get them on. They use a new engine management system too complete with digital ignition so they don't have a distributor any more. The mounting points are the same as the earlier engines so they can be fitted where the older engines were Dimensions are the same as well although the serp engine is slightly shorter I think.

There will be loads of other details I have missed out but that lot will give you an idea of how different the old and new engines are.
