This is the engine number of the one I have been given and started to strip.
45112578D
This puts it into the P6 range, but the compression ratio is 9.25:1 and this is not listed.
It has twin SUs and a fuel pump that is driven from the timing cover.
Does anyone have anymore information?
Thanks,
Paul.
What Rover V8 do I have?

That is great thanks. Yes, I do intend to use the RR type. I have this on the current engine so I will just the pulleys I have.
It is going into a Defender 90. I am looking to build lump with low down torque (and to learn how to do it and have some fun). Not a high revving race engine. If anyone knows any special details that I need to take into consideration with this engine please let me know. The current engine is a 9.35:1 from a Range Rover with EFI.
Lots of (possibly) dumb questions to follow.
Regards,
Paul.

If you want more torque at low revs - a standard 3.9 cam (assuming you have a 3.5) will do the trick nicely. Only £46 from what I remember too.
Of course if you want to spend tripple that, then Mr.Heath used to swear by the RPI 'torquemax' cam so I believe...
