Flywheel & clutch assy..

That looks like an automatic flex plate with a "flywheel" attached to it.
Ingenious bodge, but a bodge nonetheless.

Its not a bodge....

Has to do with the DS transaxle that sits behind.

My V12 jag has a chev flywheel and a GM Getrag 5 Speed gearbox. The chev flywheel has a smaller outside diameter than the jag flywheel but the same friction diameter - the chev flywheel was 1/10 the price of the jag flywheel bit does not mesh with the jag starter - I bolted a jag flex plate to the crank on the engine side of the chev flywheel - works a treat and is far from a bodge.

Are you guys saying they're bolting a flywheel to a flex plate ????

In my case no - the flywheel and the flex plate bolts to the crankshaft flange as they would as individual items in manual and auto cars. The flex plate is sandwiched between the flywheel and crankshaft flange - all the flex plate does is mesh with the starter motor and turn the engine - it has nothing to do with the clutch function.

Mine is sandwiched the same way..

Search through the web makes me think my flex plate is P6. Flywheel still unkown. Clutch assembly might be DS or SM.

My DS tranaxle ( pre C35 ) has a narrow belhouse.
Guess all KVA's had it back in the day. Not sure how those Esprits have it.

P5B, P6B or SD1 to fit BW35/65/66 transmission.

Flywheel still unkown.

The way the clutch bolts are right out to the edge I'd guess at Land/range Rover.
