Here you go a few have been messaging me for updates,
well we are not far off now, everything has been back from machining, pistons had to go away again as not quite enough clearance in the reliefs that we were happy with,
But we are within sight of seeing how this bad boy runs now :D

Must say, I admire your perseverance. Most had long since given up after all these setbacks you experianced with the Capper & engines.

I can imagine you must have had some bad days your family must have noticed.

We are all men trying and bodging our dream toghether, sometimes whatever it takes.

Hope to see you at the Classic Ford Show next year with the Capper..
Will bring waffles if you do.

A little more progress.
waiting on a spare PS pump to arrive so I don't have to drain my steering down on the car and remove the pump, to fit to the charger bracket to measure the belt length,
the charger has moved over 25mm to clear the covers, which has moved the belt to the charger closer to the belt that's goes back to the bottom pulley, I'm hoping once the PS pump is on and everything is under tension there's enough clearance,
If not will need to add an 8 rib pulley on the top span to lift the belt a fraction,

Was the belt always running so close to itself ? Looks like there's a risk of the belt touching in use ?

was close before but its closer now the charger has moved sideways 25mm, hence why I said it may need the extra idler gear adding on the top span to lift the belt a little

I'd think a pulley as close to the water pump as possible would lift it away, whilst retaining as much wrap as possible still around the blower itself.

More wrap on the crank would do no harm too.

It may be conceivable to have a flat alloy plate between the two belts. It rubbing against that wouldnt do it any harm but would still prevent the two bits of belt ever hitting. Although it really does look tight in there.

the wrap on the crank is still the same as it was last time mate,
and that seemed to work ok,

My only issue at the moment is trying to find a 2" 7 or 8 rib metal idler pulley
70+ mm is all I can find so far,

bigger diameter usually better anyway, reduces bearing speeds.

Although for where you'd be using it, I dont think it is 100% essential to have a ribbed pulley, although it would be best to do so.

Well may need to look at the idler pulley thing again as now PS pump is fitted even less room now for a second idler lol.

Image

Have a 6mm gap between the belts. This is with the 90mm charger pulley fitted not the larger 110mm pulley.

Plenty of room for an idler, and a bolt sitting waiting for it.

MSPaint skillz. Or you could drill and tap for another position maybe a little down and to the right.
