Fuel pipe
Is there a petrol/fuel pipe out there that doesn't go rock hard after a while !
I looked into this a few years ago and got what was recommended at the time, I cant remember what spec it was, but that has gone hard too.
any ideas ?
thanks

Goodyear R9 EFI fuel hose will be over spec for you Dave its not cheap mind, future proof for the increased ethanol content that lesser rated fuel hose wont tolerate (well for long) anymore http://www.flexiducting.co.uk/products/ ... fuel-hose/ just ordered some of this for a customers car, I presume you need 5/16 - 8mm i.d ?

I am still on Codan R7 Stevie with no issues but you know what its like if your recommending something like fuel hose, I have seen Daves Devon Gates R6 is good EFI hose but now the ethanol thing is in swing I dont know how it will cope long term and R9 is said to have full compliancestevieturbo wrote:How long is a while ?
I use Gates on various stuff, and never really had any problems ( Gates hose...not metal gates )

It's not cheap, but should be available in the UK. Member sowen is in the aircraft business, he would probably know where to buy it in UK.

Both of my fuel system hoses have been on for 3 years now and both hoses are cracking on the outside. I think I wil be replacing these with ptfe lined braided hoses for the 2017 build now + Aeroquip fittings.
I think the money I have spent on replacing the whole fuel system rubber stuff every 2-3 years since 2006 has cost more than it should have. So its time to fork out a bit more for a ssytem that will last much longer?

Strange, I've used Gates on a lot of cars and never had problems...maybe 10 years there might be, but 2-3 is nothing
On my own I've used Earls superstock for a lot, the push fit stuff. Whilst it may have gone a little hard, there are no cracks etc, and that stuff has been on the car for an easy 10 years.
But teflon really should last indefinitely. Torques do theirs fairly cheap and you can now get it with a black overbraid so you dont have to have that horrible stainless overbraid visible
Although on some of my oil lines where I used it, I covered the entire length with black heatshrink where they didnt offer a black covering themselves.
