hi guys,
OK, so am trying to figure out how this engine has been built up. So far:
original 3.9RR bock with 9.35:1 CR
bore 94mm
Stroke 77mm
so we can assume a 4.2 crank?
Pistons? as per my other thread Hepolite 22058a which one person has told me after looking through some old parts books, relate to a RR 3.9 low compression piston.
There is around 16 thou gap between the top of the piston and the deck.
Rods = dont know.
Heads are away at the moment getting looked at. It did run on composite gaskets.
The paperwork from a previous owner states these are:
high compression pistons giving 10.5:1CR
lightened and balanced bottom end? any way of checking this?
DJE rods?
Any comments on the above?
Thanks
Chris
help me identify my set up

That looks stock and a pretty high mileage - The photo's of mine above are from when I stripped the engine to check it was all as the bills that came with the car before selling it. Ten years old but low mileage.
Again DJE stamped the blocks he worked on on the faces near the bellhousing.

Looks to me that that is a stock engine probably from an auto and when the manual flywheel was fitted ARP bolts were used which is quite usual as they are not expensive.
I guess the cam and the timing gear will tell you if any work at all over stock was carried out.
