V belt to serpentine
Is it possible (easy) to convert a flapper 3.5 with a v belt to a serpentine belt? I know I will need the bottom pulley, water pump and power steering pulleys plus a tensioner, but will it fit on?
I have a110amp alternator and will be upgrading the power steering pump and I think its all too much for one belt, its on an extreme 90 so does not go on the road...

I think some of the intermediate engines used both flat and v-belts, a right old cobble up.
If you go for full serpentine, then you will need the timing cover to go with it. What I can't recall is if there was a distributor version - I think there was, so you'll need that. It will mean you have a crank driven oil pump, so you will need the spacer for the crank pulley.

What you are trying to do is not straightforward.
Even if you decide to change the front cover and get all the serp pullies to match, you will need to have the woodruff key at the front of the crank extended. The easiest solution is keep your existing crank pulley and bolt on a serp type pulley using the 6 5/16" unf bolts. At the waterpump you will need to fit a similar serp pulley. There is a thread on here at the moment where the guy had done this. Have a look.

I'd certainly be interested in using a serpentine belt on my SD1 - if a conversion kit (or whatever) was available and was just new pulleys etc.
I've had a couple of fan belt failures over the years, and it's not an easy belt to change at the roadside.

In the GT40 you have to remove the seats, remove the bulkhead and then loosen the alternator
I run a P6 pump so a set for that would suit me

Thanks for the replies guys, so much for hoping it would be a quick job, back to the drawing board I think.
I have an extreme off road 90 and the belt slips a bit when the winch is on sometimes and I want to upgrade my steering pump to a 110 bar system and I think one belt will struggle maybe better to start looking for twin V belt pulleys..
