Drilling 4 more bolt holes in RV8 10 bolt heads?

Post by ratwing »

I know these aren't needed to hold the heads down, thats not why I'm asking.
I'm building up a 4.6 engine using p6 parts from my old engine and the missing head bolts are an instant give away that it isn't a standard p6 engine.
I'm thinking of drilling and tapping the bosses in the heads (but NOT the block) and screwing in some cut down head bolts so that to the casual observer it still looks original.
I can't think of a reason why this shouldn't be ok but am I missing something obvious?

I wouldn't even bother tapping them - just drill a hole a few thou under the diameter of the bolt shank and press them in with a dab of locktite.

Or even just cut the bolt heads off and epoxy it to the blank bosses.
