RV8 - Megasquirt maps anyone?

Post by adamnreeves »

I have just finished assembly of my megasquirt ECU and looks like it is working fundamentally when testing with the stim.

My spec is:

Megasquirt I version 3.0 loaded with MSnSextra code firmware 0.29v but states 029q in the ini files.
- Engine is 4.6 V8 (46D).
- Stage III/IV heads the oversize valves and fully ported.
- Inlet manifold to match.
- Fabricated plenum chamber on the lines of ACT performance one.
- Piper 285 injection cam the one with higher 12.11mm lift.
- Rhoads lifters.
- Car weight is circa 650Kgs.
- Manual 2wd r380 transmission with 3.36LSD diff.
- Bosch 998 injectors 22.5 lbs/hr flow.
- Using EDIS8 to drive coils packs with input from MS via SAW.
- I am expecting at least 280BHP and 280ft/lbs, possibly a little more.

Oh and I have only been messing with MS for 2 weeks now and most of that buiilding it up, so I am a newbie for this.

Theres a 4.6 edis msq which should sort you out however i think its intended for standard injectors so you may have to fiddle with the re furl a bit to get things in the right ball park.

Yep, got that but knew that the injectors would need different fueling so was after one where this has been done. I have got to run my cam in and do not want to burn a hole in my piston in doing so :(

I bought my kit from Bill but I think I will send Phil an email, thanks mate.
I did send Bill an email a few days ago but had no reply, I know he is very busy.

Well if you drop the re'q fuel donw by a bit it'll work. To be honest My 3.9 with a lesser spec than yours fired up on it instaneously without problem. It'll work just be ready to catch it on the throttle. An engien will run and idle in neautral without load and a very very wide range of settings it just won't like load but if you just want to run the cam in then it should work. If anything with your larger injectors it'll be rich, you can adjust the ve table when its running very quickly to get a reasonable a/f when you're running it at its fast idle for the cam.

just change the req fuel to what you need. There is a calculator built into megatune for doing this. Its about as close a map as your probably going to get.
