SD1 Block Freeze Plug Renewal

Post by rover827 »

Hi, Just doing a full strip down on my SD1 V8 block. The last job was to remove the core plugs, nice and easy job, the two on the rear of the block was a little difficult than the rest I mean a little more force.
looking into the hole on the rear ones I noticed a little of the casting had come away just inside where the end of the plug seats, is this normal. The actual hole where the plug seats is fine, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi
clean up the hole with emery, degrease, use a wipe of "right stuff" or that black bonding sealer from Car builder solutions or similar urethane gasket material and put the freeze plug using a stepped drift.
best regards
