Exhaust Gas Gauge
Gents,
I've two threaded holes for 02 sensors in my janspeed headers, my Disco is a GCC spec so it never came with sensors, 14 CUX controlled with the yellow tune resistor.
As Christmas is coming I'm looking to add a O2 / fuel mixture gauge to my wish list, so i can monitor the fuel mix levels.
What do you / can you recommend?
Cheers
Jim

I like Techedge or 14point7 widebands for their cock on accuracy. The Techedge unit i've got on the TVR hasn't needed calibration in 3 years now and it's still spot on. They've also got plenty of datalogging functions so you can log throttle position, load, rpm, air temp, oil temp ect, which a lot of the other brands don't have.
The newest innovate units are also good accuracy wise but i've found they need calibrating often and they seem to chew through sensors, something to do with the different method of heater control they use apparently.

I'd give another vote for Tech Edge. They even make a DIY assembly kit if you like soldering. And provide schematics of the device, which is nice.
This is their take on sensor placement:-

This ^ I also have a 14 point 7 Spartan and it works faultlessly with Tunerstudio & no gauge offsets like my Innovate LM2 even when the grounds etc come from the same pointBaracus wrote:I like Techedge or 14point7 widebands for their cock on accuracy. Whilst I havent used one myself, the AEM gets lots of praise across many forums. I've rarely seen a bad word about it.

Whilst I've used an LM-1 myself many times and still do car to car, generally I'd stay away from their stuff now.
Even the LM-1 goes through sensors at a ridiculous rate...Sensor failure just seems a regular occurrence with Innovate.
Likewise Techedge gets some praise, but equally a fair amount of dislikes
NGK have a couple of units now, prices are varying though. TBH if you can get the old NGK AFX, it almost sounds better than it's newer replacement

PLX stuff is usually decent too

Presumably for when their product has problems, which is not uncommon.DaveEFI wrote:Interested to know just why you'd have dealings with the TechEdge owner?
Not as bad as Innovate, but still many do have issues with Techedge

Zeitronix come well regarded but not cheap
mentioned already but a few TVR RV8 boys use the AEM with good results
NGK would be my choice purely on their reputation if I purchased another, my Innovate LM2 full kit works great for a stand alone unit but is expensive for what it is even though it doubles up as a OBD reader and you can data log with various inputs, it was flaky on arrival from the states (freezing/locking up) till I did a firmware update which I thought was a bit off quite frankly, I purchased this cheap saving around £100 IIRC but knowing a bit more now I think I would swerve Innovate products there is a lot better out there.
I just use the Spartan full time now and if I need to log I can do this through Tunerstudio/Megalog Viewer

Innovate has a forum too...but when there are inherent flaws with the product, no amount of forums will fix it.DaveEFI wrote:Ah. I've not needed help, but did notice there was a forum for this, so supposed it worked like the MS one. Or this one, come to that.
