OK thats it throwing in the towel
As some of you have seen I have had a few issues with my Overfinch converted Range Rover.
Well I have had enough it broke down again the other day 100yards from my house so I think it will be going up for sale, no idea what went wrong but it fires and runs for about 5 seconds then stops, fuel pump is running ok and no other symptoms.
So what do you guys reckon its worth? It has had over the past 2 years the following
Brand new stainless exhaust including headers
New suspension airbags and sensors
Megasquirt ECU
Wideband Lambda
BRC LPG kit
New Tyres
New inlet gaskets
Lots of blood sweat and tears and loads of TLC

Not seen any other threads on this, so excuse if this has been covered.
You say the fuel pump is running - but is it running when the engine is running? As 5 seconds of running feels like the pump is stopping or it never restarts after the initial 2 second prime.
As dave says, a log from the MS2 should give some reasonable clues.
Is it a RR classic?

Its a P38 with all of those lovely GEMS wiring issues fuel pump remains running OK as I can hear it running its losing the trigger input and to be honest I have lost the will to even look at it anymore hence my question whats it worth I know its a wiring issue causing the problems as the physical engine has good compression etc but I dont want to even try and look at it any more.

On cruise I can run my Eddy at between 14.5-15:1. I must admit that when I accelerating or at WOT I don't run it anything like as lean as 14.7:1Eliot wrote:Doubt it would pass an MOT with a carb on it fella - You need to run a perfect 14.7 afr to keep the CAT happy, the eddy 500 just pisses petrol down the inlet even when its turned offsidecar wrote:Stick an Eddy 500 on it, jet it up correctly and it won't break down!
My engine is quite 'dirty' on idle too because of the cam and the large bore headers, I run 12.2:1, the idle goes down the pan at 12.5:1
AnywayI know how some of you EFI chaps don't like carbs so I only posted up my comments as a bit of a joke!

Megasquirt loosing tac signal. . . . . now where have I seen that before! it will be noise from somewhere, personally I would take Eliot up on his offer. Or take the MSQ off, put on a second hand distributor and a second hand tunnel port controller on it and ask two and a half grand for the thing

poppet valves rule!
The snag with the VR input on the V3 board is that it was designed some time ago to cope with pretty well all VR sensors, so does need careful setting up. There are better ways of doing it these days. But if you set it up with a scope on your actual VR sensor (or by trial and error referring to the tooth logger), it works well enough. Provided the wiring is correctly done, of course.
There are aftermarket twin VR input boards available at a reasonable cost, though, of a more up to date circuit design, similar to the one used on the MicroSquirt.

So today I grudgingly trooped into the garage, I tried to start it and got the same symptoms, runs for about 2 to 3 seconds and dies.
So out with my laptop just to make sure the MS is seeing triggers etc. when I turn the ignition on MS fires up and is connected to the laptop and I can see all my settings, fire her up then after 2to 3 seconds it dies but at the same time the laptop loses the connection to MS and shows offline. If I cycle the power on the ignition switch MS goes back online and if I try to start it the same thing happens.
Aha I thought it must be the power to the MS that's stopped working....... Well that is fine the 12V supply is rock steady and switches with the ignition, so my thinking is the MS has decided to give up the ghost.
Gentlemen any other thoughts?
