Inlet Base Blanking Screws
Guys,
Can you help me...have been trawling the net to buy 2no stainless steel planking plugs for the trumpet inlet base...but can't find a supplier. Standard units are steel 5/8"x1/2".
Any/all help greatly received.
Thanks, Andrew

I would probably think twice about putting stainless plugs in the aluminum base

All metals corrode/oxidize to some point. The main issue when using stainless steel [st/st] fasteners with an alloy is galling when tightening. The heat generated between the two metals causes their base state at the threads surface to change, with st/st surface now being prone to rusting. This is easily overcome by using an appropriate lubricant when tightening i.e copper grease or a loctite depending upon use of the fastener [set screw/bolt]. And to tighten the fastener slowly :. reducing both heat and friction.
Factory standard is a steel plug which is far worse than st/st. Brass/brass alloy plugs are often used which work well with alloys. Again a lubricant should be used.
So back to the original question. Anyone know of a UK supplier who sells these plugs in st/st?

Can't you just use stainless button head bolt, loads on google.
