Out of interest would you call the rad to block stubs 40 or 42mm?

No idea I'm afraid. You'll have to use a measuring stick!

Looks good. Keep the heater on 'hot' when you first start the engine to make sure all the air gets pushed out.

Ran the engine today for the first time in months.Heater works great(albeit turning the heat off didnt really seem to do much unless I wasnt giving it long enough).I fit a temp controlled unit to the rad fan as PO just relied on an on and off switch,it switches in and out ok although I arent sure what sort of temp I should set it to switch in at?I have a laser type temp reader.Just got to check coolant level in the morning and top up.Let it tick over for half an hour and it ran fine.Because I wanted to use the original Wolseley dash gauges I had to cobble an old Austin 1300 temp gauge innards with the Wolseley white face.It reads fine albeit reading backwards(I have to transpose the C & H letters)but sits towards the H end.I wonder if I maybe need a different sender or a resistor in the circuit.

My Landie has a heater control like that, and it does take a while to respond to changes in the heater lever.
