I put a standard LT95 coupled to a P6 (it's got a shorter water pump 'nose' and pulley than the SD1/RR/serp front cover) v8 in a lightweight, without the 101 bellhousing and it fitted. Just. It tended to eat the UJ at the front of the front prop due to the relatively horrible angle. From what I know...

I used to have an ex-military lightweight with the P6 v8 and put a v8 90 radiator in the tailgate. Cooling was fine without an additional pump, but I did have two of the largest kenlow fans I could fit on it. As long as I was moving pretty well the fans stayed off, but low speed with the strange air...

Well that was interesting. I tweaked the mixture just onto the rich side and took it round the block. Much more tractable and no missing on the transition at all. Just a beautiful v8 burble as the power feeds in. The idle is much more stable as well. Hurrah. Which makes me think that the 'ideal' mix...

Hmm. Didn't work on it today, went to see the traction engines at a local steam rally with Hub's instead. Yes, it's SU carbs. Pistons slide easily in the dashpots and have as far as I know they have the standard springs. Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the pins. I'll check that. I have no evidence the A...

Low rpm under load misfire
Getting back to playing with SD1 powered Landy after a break of a couple of years, except I remember it playing up before so this isn't new. So pretty standard SD1, except for K&N conical filters directly on the end of the carbs, no elbows/etc and BBW needles. Timing is probably about 4BTDC alth...

I effectively blanked off the heater circuit when installing an SD1 into a Series 3 Landy. It had simply had a water shut-off valve as the cabin heater temperature control. With it shut the engine temp would cycle alarmingly. So for summer use I put in a bypass for the heater matrix and valve so the...

Well I managed to find time to take it round the road today... and it seems fine. In fact before putting the rocker cover filter breather on it would hesitate a bit when easing the foot down from low revs in a high gear. It seems to pick up a wee bit better. So that's a result. mgbv8: yeah the breat...

I've re-plumbed the breathers. One rocker cover breather goes through a flame trap and then into both carb ports. The other cover breather has a 'breather filter' sat on it. As expected I had to adjust the mixture settings, but it's no big deal - I need to look at fuel/air mix as well as I have indi...

The P6 has breather pipes on both covers which are plumbed into the carb breather ports individually, via flame traps. Additionally there's a hole at the back of the block which should be connected to the air filter box, and which the SD1 block doesn't have. Breather filters would suit me fine. What...

Breathing
By not paying enough attention at the right time I have managed to get an SD1 engine with P6 rocker covers. Which I have connected up in the usual way with flame traps to the carb breather ports. It didn't dawn on me until reading various posts on this forum that therefore there is no fresh air inpu...
