Hi Russ, A sketch of the the spacer would be appreciated, I'm an engineer by trade so making them won't be a problem :) A 2.88 diff would give me 29.5mph/1000rpm :? You wouldn't know how to get the diff out of a Scimitar axle would you? I believe you need a casing stretcher but is there another way ...

Cheers for that Mike 8-)

Probably best to try it first, I'm looking for a Jag powerlock LSD at the moment so I think I'll see if I can get one with something close to 3.1 so I have the choice to swapping the cwp around.

My tyres are 195/50/15.

I've been using quaifs gear ratio calculator and with the 3.3 diff cruising at 70mph would be 2712 rpm compared to 2942 for the 3.38 and 3205 for the 3:9.

I just don't want to sacrifice to much acceleration through the lower gears but you can't have the nest of both worlds :?

which diff ratio?

Hi Chaps, I'm currently in the process of fitting a 4ha Scimitar axle to my Chevette, and was wondering what diff ratio to go for. The old axle was a 3.9 and I was finding 1st and 2nd gear to short, the new axle has a 3.3 fitted bit I do have the option of a 3.58. Engine is a 3.9 Rover attached to a...

Yet another LT77 question

Hi all, just a quick question regarding the LT77 box.

Which boxes have the 0.77 ratio fith gear? i'm looking for one as i need to get the revs down at motorway speeds as i'm running a 3.9 diff in the rear end.

Any serial numbers i can look out for?

Thanks in advance 8-)

MSD Blaster 5900 wiring?

I've got myself a MSD Blaster ignition box jobbie and need to wire it in to the Chevette. The connections to the coil is simple enough but just need to confirm what to do with the dizzy. My dizzy is a electronic Lucas 35 DLM8 with an ignition module mounted on the side, the - green wire and the + vi...

Right the plot thickens :? I have plumbed the breathers correctly now and the oil sill refuses to stay in the engine :( So i did a compression test and out of the eight cylinders i could only get to six of them as 7 and 8 are tucked under the bulkhead. But the six i did check all gave a reading of a...

Hi V8Chevette. If I understand you correctly you say you have a PCV valve breathing into the air cleaner. This would be incorrect as to work properly the valve needs to be connected to a manifold vacuum point on the engine side of the butterfly. If the PCV valve is connected to the air cleaner then...

Clarkson is dead right, these Rover V8's sound like two fat people mud wrestling in a well. Lovely sound. That is one cool Chevette, a far cry from the asthmatic 1256cc Pastel blue 3 dr my Dad used to have! Very cool indeed 8) Ta :D The missus thinks it's to loud but i'd say it was about right :D
