Spark plug recommendation please.

Hello I have a bog standard Range Rover Classic with a 4.2 engine which I run on lpg. Could you good people recommend a good plug and gap for my needs please? At present I use NGK BPR6ES but don't know whether this is suitable with gas. I also run it at 12 degrees BTDC. Is this also okay please? Man...

Thank you very much for that Mr Devonman.
In theory it should have made refitting the distributor that much easier but not in my case!

Just to say that after being rained off from work today I managed to get her going again. Many thanks for your advice and assistance, much appreciated. Also noted that the distributor shaft doesn't have an oil pump drive at the bottom, just a hole where it used to be. Any idea when they stopped usin...

ignition timing pointer and timing set up.

Please be gentle with me as I am pretty new to electronic ignition having only dealt with points systems for the last forty years on many and various classics. I now own a Range Rover Classic which is a 4.2 LSE model. I removed the distributor yesterday and stupidly lost the marks for the refitting ...

Hello Ron
Many thanks indeed for that, just what I was looking for.
The two pipes that take away the overflow fuel,do they just route out below the engine or out through the wheel arch or something?
Thanks again.
Graham.

S.U. Questions?

I've decided to dump my Strombergs and fit a pair of S.U.s but need to find out a couple of things if anyone can tell me please. The fuel inlet pipe is obvious but is the fuel pipe layout the same as with the Strombergs i.e.one pipe from the tank, into a tee which is positioned immediately before the...

If I hadn't just laid out sixty of my hard earned on these n.o.s. Stroms then I probably would try some others ,or if I'd known when I bought them that they wouldn't run on a manual choke then I obviously wouldn't have bought them. But that's a lot of if's, and now I have them and they are on, and do...

Thanks for the reply Paul. I'm not sure if you get any fuel when you hit the pedal on Strombergs without the engine running,do you? What are your views on the "choke flap" method,do you think it might work? I suppose the easiest way to check it would be to tape a piece of cardboard partial...

Alternative to auto choke?

I've have just fitted a pair of N.O.S. Stromberg 175CD carbs (4027L/R) to my Rover 3.5 which is in a Landrover Series 1. These carbs are normally fitted with the F.A.S.D. auto choke system but didn't come with this unit when I bought them. After talking to various people I'm more than a bit reluctan...

Ignition timing setting?

Hello Could anyone please tell me what I should set my ignition timing to on my bog standard Range Rover 3.5 v8 carbed engine please? It has electronic ignition and the manual says 6 b.t.d.c. but I don't know if that has changed or not with the demise of leaded. Many thanks and sorry for such a fund...

I'm pretty sure that you have a return pipe as both my carbed v8's have a pipe going into the left hand carb which is tee'd over to the right hand one and again has a tee pipe for a return to tank line. And all of this is done with proper pipes and olives just as it shows in the parts manual so I exp...
