You are correct the fuel map would have been well out, which is why I was supprised it ran so well! I put the 4.2 ECU back shortly after as I was just trying to sort another problem out which turned out to be air flow meter issues in the end (one that come in a blue box and was useless).

I can confirm some early discoverys were fitted with 3.5 engines with hotwire injection. I have a complete engine and injection system which I have raided for parts and the ECU part number is PRC 9059 which is for a 3.5 engine. I have used this ECU for fault finding when I had issues with cold idle ...

I had a 3.5 engine that I sold on its own to someone in Plymouth back in the late 90's. I relise there are probably quite a few engines with a Boxer set up however the breather set up looks very familiar. If it was my engine, the heads were gas flowed by an ex employee from Janspeed that it knew at ...

Cold Fast Idle

Recently, the fast idle on my 4.2 V8 (hotwire) has stopped working and it tries to idle at about 600 rpm when cold. It used to idle about 1100 rpm until it warmed up then drop back to about 850-900 rmp which was good. Seems to be a bit of a pig now until warmed up, but am putting that down to tthe s...

why not keep what you have got and fit a LT230 transfer box with 1.4:1 ratio instead of the Borg warner which has a 1.2 (ish):1 ratio. Much simpler and you get your centre diff back. Borg Warners are prone to seizing viscous couplings and stretched chains. You could even go 1.6:1 and worth checking ...

Hotwire Stepper Motor

Hi I am after some help! I have a handfull of stepper motors for a 3.9 efi, some of which I know are genuine parts and some are ebay specials, but cannot tell which. Does anyone know the connections on the stepper motor so I can manually run them in and out with an external power source so as to see...

I think the original 4.2 compression ratio is 8.95:1 or around that figure. When my 4.2 was originally built by V8D the pistons were left alone other than cutting valve inserts and the block was decked so as to bring the compression up to 9.5:1. As said previously the pistons on a 4.2 run off set gu...

There is the problem! Put on a genuine v8 90/110 fan cowl and as long as the rad is OK your problems should be sorted (not very expensive from Landy breakers). You can put on a 3.9 fan (11 blades) but it will not fit in the normal fan cowl and a range rover one will not fit without butchery. The 3.9...

If by second gearbox you mean transfer box then the finned bottom covers all ready exist made by Rocky Mountain (Ashcrofts sell them also) For series transfer boxes they are just a finned cover and for LT230s they have additional oil capacity as well as finns. Should also be easy to make up an alloy...

Very true about the position of the oil temp sender, my one is in the sump, but in the back and the sender is insulated to try and negate the cooling effect from the wind. Reads not far out compared with laser thermometer.
