Re: Oil pump
Thanks for your responses. I have been told by a rover v8 mechanic to refill with vaseline and try again but to leave the engine running for longer. I'll give it a go and see what happens. On another note does anyone know what jet size is best in a Weber 38dgas carburettor for the Rover v8 3.5. I a...

Re: 3.5 Engine rebuild
I've always primed the oil by pulling the distributor and spinning the pump drive with a long bolt with a slot ground in the head. Chris. That's pretty much what the "special tool" is. Even with that though I've never been able to prime the pump without first packing with Vaseline, possibly my remo...

Re: 3.5 Engine rebuild
The BL manual says Vaseline rather than grease for the oil pump. I suppose it might dissolve in oil rather more easily? I'd also turn it over on the starter (plugs out) until the oil pressure light goes out. +1 for Vaseline (if you can spare some)it is petroleum jelly and so disolves in the oil, do...

Re: Hotwire system tune resistor.
GC Cobra - As the exhaust down pipes were off, and i had the lambda sensors, just took the opportunity to fit them. Was hoping someone on the Forum could tell me if i was wasting my time, or not. As far as I've ever been able to tell there is no (performance) advantage to fitting the standard, narr...

Re: Hotwire system tune resistor.
Why do you want to fit Lambda sensors when you don't have cat's? What are you hoping to achieve?

Re: Learning about the 3.9 14CUX ECU
Back to speed input to the 14CUX (Hotwire) ECU. I am looking at this to provide speed input to a 14CUX (Hotwire) ECU in my FC101. A friend also has a FC101 with 14CUX system and he does not have any speed input to his ECU and the vehicle runs and idles fine. So is speed input important to the 14CUX...

Re: Learning about the 3.9 14CUX ECU
14CUX gets signal from the LT side of the coil for engine speed, won't even start the fuel pump u til it sees this. Road speed signal is used to switch from the elevated "moving idle" to regular idle at a out 3MPH, also used in some 4WD installations to limit top speed due to tyre speed rating. I in...

Re: Rover V8 clutch plate diameter
Can't you get the smaller hole pattern drilled into the flywheel you have?
Isnt the RR flywheel much thicker/heavier than SD1
Some photos would be useful

Re: Cylinder head porting
When I did mine I cut back the valve guides very close to the port, this probably opened the port more and gave less turbulence than anything else. I think.

Pity this isn't 14CUX Hotwire, if it was you could see the sensor readings via Rover Gauge.

How can it have neither continuity or resistance? That's like saying it's a perfect conductor and a perfect insulator.

Re: Advice sought, lt-77 remote spacers
The ones which enter sideways (supporting the bridge) are 13.25mm.
Those entering longways are 21.7mm
I fitted poly bushes but a year later one of them had disintegrated (maybe due to my fitting, I was doing it from under the car gynecologist style).
